MC also created hand-stitched leather touring seat, which actually looks like an exceptional improvement over the stock unit. We think that MV Agusta has a tank bag is a bit of stretch though ... MC owners do really need to get as much storage from one cafe to another? We kid. We kid.

Gas Moped Scooter

Gas Moped Scooter
Buying a gas moped scooter is a great way to have fun on the road without emptying your bank account. In the past scooters have mainly been used by teenagers for getting to and from friends houses, school or college. You can often see them admiring each others scooters outside coffee shops etc. The most popular models being the Vespa, Lambretta, piaggio and the smaller Honda models.
This trend is now starting to show signs of change, the main reason is the recent rise in gas prices and heavy city traffic, consequently more and more commuters are looking at the gas moped scooter as a reliable way of getting around town.

Lean and mean: the Icare motorcycle concept will take the streets by storm

4_OxAJb_1333

If its France-based designers are to be believed then the Icare motorcycle concept is supposed to be a cross between something from Tron and “a kind of Porsche or Aston Martin for the two-wheeled world.” I guess anyone who thought this was just another bike concept can really stuff it and marvel at the wonder that is this Enzyme Design exclusive.

1_y1qDf_1333

Inspired by light cycles from TRON and housing a six-cylinder 1.8 liter Honda engine revving up more heat than what you’d find in some compact cars, this one sure is a hottie with the muscle to prove it.

tron motorcycle

Who would have thought that Playboy would try to get their geek-on by creating their Tron pictorial? Inspired by the movie, Tron: Legacy, Playboy's Tron pictorial, "Game on" video, and behind the scenes footage of the photo shoot, are an amazing sight and truly phenomenal art work.
It all starts with a rather artistic venture by Hugh Hefner's Playboy team. The renowned magazine and business empire took two of its playmates and turned them into phenomenal Tron-style, high-tech looking masterpieces that impressed me more as a work of art than anything else. The shoot and video definitely don't disappoint fans of Playboy, as well as other fans of art in general.
It's interesting to see how the playmate Irina Voronina and Sasckya Porto, are transformed with the careful application of bodypaint to get them "Tronned up" for the shoot. Also in the photo shoot and video: Playboy's "Game On" features custom-built Tron cycles. Printwork and video aside, one of the most interesting parts of the work are the featured Parker Brothers Choppers Light Cycles, which are replicas of the Tron cycles.

Brammo Enertia, Brammo Enertia Plus, Brammo Empulse, Brammo Motor 2011

Today's revelation Brammo prototype in 2011 Brammo Empulse electrical series sportbikes. Empulse 6.0, 8.0 and 10.0 ares Brammo response to many complaints from riders about motorcycle motorcycles actual electricity production, the full embrace of market power for the race inspired sportbikes and the continuation of the consumer electronics industry quickly inspired the philosophy of better technology for less money .

All three models have Empulse 100 mph + top speed, 60% improvement over the 60 mph top speed Enertia. No more fear of riding in the right lane without a go-juice on tap. $ 9,995 Empulse 6.0 to 60 miles range, $ 11,995 Empulse 8.0 to 80 miles range and $ 13,995 10.0 Empulse has a range of 100 million range No more anxiety and tax rebates in some states to bring the price Empulse 10.0 to 7000 dollars, much less anxiety.

On top of all these games changing improvements Empulse looks amazing. Brammo again captured the essence of classic motorcycles combustion in electric motorcycles, in which the rotor in an engine is only part of the rotary or oscillating north of the chain. Do not get me wrong, I've always loved the look Enertia. But the exposed engine and battery Empulse will have all the luck Enertia owners hunt for ways to decrease the sidewalls.

Cagiva Mito SP525 2011
When visiting Malaysia, the rumors seem to have the two stroke motorcycle deaths are greatly exaggerated. Granted, 125cc two stroke motorcycle is hardly thriving, but the Cagiva Mito SP525 mean Gray smoke motorcycles are not extinct yet. Before you get too excited, 525 misleading name does not refer to its engine capacity, it is 125cc, using a sensitive and cleaned's version of the liquid cooled single is a Cagiva Mito, as it introduced 20 years ago. Since then, exhaust emission legislation has repeatedly slammed the door in two stroke engines. But the Cagiva the door opened again, using new technology to continue Cagiva Mito heritage.

As well as two catalytic converters and a smart ECU brain, the Cagiva engine has a new Dell'Orto designed "electronic Carburation System 'keeping the air / fuel / oil mixture as efficiently as possible. And it all works. When you eventually start Cagiva Mito SP525 having taken the tank off to establish the position of the unlabeled choke switch, then pulling your hair out because you did not know how the kill switch works, sure it idles and pulls flawlessly and clean. When we last rode a 125cc two stroke it coughed, stuttered and spluttered their way throughout the rev counter, but this Cagiva Mito SP525 is as smooth as silk and strong right up to 10.000 rpm.

700 Horsepower from Suzuki Hayabusa

Perhaps the most insane news we've posted on Gizmag this week comes from the inaugural DynoJet Horsepower Challenge held last weekend in Valdosta, Georgia, USA. Basically, DynoJet make motorcycle dynamometers and they provided a bunch oif them and anybody could roll up and the guy whose bike made the most horsepower won. The winning fellow was Hank Booth of Great Falls, Montana, whose highly modified 1999 Suzuki 1300GSXR Hayabusa motorcycle with an NLR turbocharger cranked out an incredible 701.32 horsepower.
Other winners in the Import Unlimited class with Booth included; RCC Turbo/Richard Peppler, of Ontario with 559.02 HP, and Glen Bertagnoli coming in third with a 445.16. All of the top three competitors were using the Suzuki Hayabusa engine.
Revving the scale in other classes were Kent Stotz with 210 bhp on a turbo powered Honda in the Imported V-Twin Cruiser Open class while Don Smith squeezed a respectable 118 bhp out of a 600cc Suzuki.
The domestic bike category was dominated by, well, what else would you expect ... Harley Davidson. The champ in this class was Kevin Kelly of Weston, Florida who managed to get his harley producing 247 horsepower in the V-twin Unlimited category, narrowly ahead of Nick Trask of Phoenix, Arizona whose Harley generated 228 horses.
Brandon Rybicki's turbo-powered Harley V-Rod produced 191 horses.

BUB 7 Streamliner motorcycle breaks 367mph for new world record

Looking more like a long, blurred, red flash than a motorcycle, the BUB 7 Streamliner is now the fastest motorcycle on earth (pending FIM verification) after Chris Carr set a new FIM world record and AMA national record at 367.382mph (591.244kmh) through the mile - and an exit speed of 372.534mph (599.534kmh) - at the Cook Private Meet at the Bonneville Salt Flats Utah. It probably also makes Carr one of the bravest men on the planet. BUB 7 beat the previous record of 360.913mph (580.833kmh), set by Team Ack Attack last year. We originally covered the BUB 7 when it broke through the 350mph (563km) barrier back in 2006.
To achieve this new incredible speed, the BUB 7 was powered by a 3-liter, turbocharged, 16-valve V4 that generated an estimated 500hp in a package the size of a 1-liter V-twin, because the maximum limit for this land speed racing is 3000cc. This purpose-built motor was designed with one thing in mind – breaking the motorcycle world record. Mission accomplished!
The engine is a big bang type, so it must gain traction, then relax and then transfer power with the next power pulse. Unlike drag racing, one of the challenges all teams competing in land speed record racing face is that their motorcycles have to make two runs; a down and a return that are combined for an overall average, so the engine has to survive for both runs without any modifications.
But power isn’t everything … this winter, the 'Seven' underwent further streamlining using A2 Wind Tunnel (A2WT) facility in South Carolina, where it scored the lowest coefficient of drag (CoD) that the A2WT has ever recorded - a CoD 0.09.
Denis Manning, designer and builder of the Seven, has been in LSR (Land Speed Racing) for the better part of 40 years, and first got the record in 1970 with a Harley-powered Streamliner with rider Cal Rayborn at 265.492mph. This is his seventh Streamliner. He has held the fastest motorcycle record with two of them (twice with the Seven).
Not much more information at this stage, but watch the video below to show how fast 350mph is when the BUB 7 Streamliner broke that record. The team is now aiming for the 400mph record.

Motorcycle Land Speed Record pushed to 350 mph

Denis Manning’s motorcycles have been chasing world land speed records for over three decades and in September, the BUB 7 Streamliner he designed and built captured the ultimate goal when it set the new absolute motorcycle land speed record at Utah’s Bonneville Salt Flats. Rider Chris Carr piloted the BUB 7 streamliner to 354.832 mph on the down run and 346.939 mph on the return for an average speed of 350.885 mph, a new world record. Prior to the 2006 BUB Motorcycle Speed Trials the absolute motorcycle land speed record had not been broken since Dave Campos achieved his 322.149 mph world record run in 1990.
Of course, building the world's fastest motorcycle from the ground up is nothing new to Manning. In 1970 another Manning-built streamliner earned the title of world's fastest motorcycle. That machine was driven 265.492mph by legendary road racer Cal Rayborn.
In over 30 years of chasing land speed records Denis Manning, and his team, have overcome some unique challenges in order to reach success. In September 2007, they will once more return to the salt to defend their absolute motorcycle land speed title at the fourth annual gathering of the world’s fastest motorcycles, the BUB Motorcycle Speed Trials scheduled for September 2 – 6, 2007. Competitors from around the globe will again meet on the Utah’s legendary Bonneville Salt Flats. The FIM (Federation Internationale de Motocyclisme) and AMA (American Motorcyclist Association) sanctioned event is the only land speed racing meet solely dedicated to motorcycles, offering the world’s top builders and racers the opportunity to break world and national speed records.
Denis Manning, a 2006 inductee in the Motorcycle Hall of Fame, is the designer, builder, and owner of the BUB #7 streamliner – and no stranger to record-breaking speed. In 1970 another Manning-designed streamliner was the fastest motorcycle in the world. That year Cal Rayborn piloted Manning’s streamliner at the Bonneville Salt Flats to a two-way average of 265.492.
The current world-record setting BUB streamliner, the “#7” sponsored by Drag Specialties & Parts Unlimited, is so named because it is the seventh streamliner Denis Manning has designed and crafted. The streamliner features numerous engineering firsts, including a 3000cc, 425hp engine purpose-designed and built for land speed racing. Says Manning, “The goal is to continue developing and testing the #7 streamliner. We hope to retain the record at the next BUB Motorcycle Speed Trials. Our dedication and hard-work paid off this year. I have no doubt next year will be just as exciting.

New 2011 KTM 1190 RC8 Power Full

The suspension also gets a few tweaks to offer better handling with the increased power. This engineering has resulted in an increased power output which is now claimed to be 175hp and a torque output of 125Nm. Behind the new fairing is a reworked 1190cc V-twin engine which now uses a new crankshaft and a more optimised fuel injection system (refer to the photos) and a lightened flywheel.

As is evident from the photos, the 2011 RC8 R gets new racy graphics along with an all orange treatment for the frame and the wheels.  KTM has unveiled the reworked version of its flagship model, the 1190 RC8 R.

one wheel motorcycle

One Wheel Motorcycle
Billet motorcycle wheels let you finish that custom look for your ride. No longer do you customize your frame, tank, saddle - well, everything - and then have to stick those stock wheels back on your bike. The billet wheels for your motorcycle as an investment, but with the variety of looks and styles available, these are the final frontier in full customization to let you design the custom chopper of your dreams.
Most billet motorcycle wheels will bolt onto your bike without having to make any annoying modifications to the frame or fender. However, you should consider how much you are changing from the wheels you had in the past. For example, if you had a 16-inch wheel, and you want to go with a 21-inch billet wheel set, you can expect to have adjustments to make.
When you shop for billet motorcycle wheels, you'll want to determine if the models you find attractive require special brake set-ups or special pulleys. The motorcycle wheel manufacturer or sales location, whether online or local, can help you with this aspect of the selection.
You'll find billet motorcycle wheels available for every make and model of motorcycle and you can mount a wide range of tires on them. Avon's popular Venom X tires and their AM-23 are popular choices for mounting on billet wheels.

If you want a set of four-spoke billet motorcycle wheels, you can turn to Diamond Distributing for their Cutter design. They were first on the market with the four-spoker. Of course, other manufacturers have now come onboard with this design because of its popularity.
There are many other manufacturers you'll find that produce billet motorcycle wheels. The designs cover everything from simple to really radical. So, whatever you want in billet motorcycle wheels, you'll find it out there. Go ahead and enter that final frontier of customization and get the wheels that add the finishing touch.

The Best 2011 Moto Guzzi Griso 1200 8V

Powerful, elegant and exclusive, the Griso 8V SE will soon become an icon among those who truly appreciate elite motorcycles  A Boge progressive suspension unit is fitted to the rear and this too had three classic settings. Other details include the fabulous new Brembo brake system made up of P4/34 radial calipers that act on floating 320mm discs. The 43 mm forks are adjustable for rebound and compression.

The front end is glued to the road thanks to upside-down forks from racing stock. Taking the perfect line through a corner becomes second nature. These handling characteristics are due to the low centre of gravity and a rock solid off-set steering head that provides an immediate response to pressure on the handlebars. The wheelbase measures 1544 mm and the Griso 8V SE is surprisingly manoeuvrable, even lightning fast in changes of direction.

The frame geometry had been carefully calculated to provide stability with the steering angle set at 26° and rake at 108 mm.

New 2011 Moto Guzzi Griso 1200 8V

The secret lies in the high-tensile steel frame with twin upper supports whose design owes little to aesthetics and much to sophisticated engineering concepts that provide exceptional rigidity under moments of extreme torsional stress. Thanks to this modern transverse V 90 twin-cylinder "Quattrovalvole" on the open road the rider really can come to appreciate a frame that keeps all that horsepower under control. These results were achieved by adopting new cam profiles, new and more efficient injectors and a revised air box, which make the "Quattrovalvole" engine even more responsive at low engine speeds while still producing practically the same maximum power.

Once in the saddle, the reality proves to be even better than you could have imagined, with the powerful "Quattrovalvole" engine delivering, in its latest incarnation, a maximum torque of 113 Nm at just 5800 rpm, marking a significant improvement over the 108 Nm at 6400 rpm of the previous version.

2011 Moto Guzzi Griso 1200 8V

The level of finish on the Griso 8V SE will more than satisfy the most demanding enthusiast with features that include a superb stitched leather saddle, beautiful BER spoked wheels shod with Pirelli Scorpion intermediate tyres not to mention the refined decorative colour-coordinated logos of the bike's initials. This bike can be recognised immediately from its colour scheme, a beautiful shade of satinised green "Tenni" or with the new "Rosso Mandello" that enhances the sweeping lines of the frame and the unmistakeable architecture of the engine. The Griso 8V SE is a Special Edition machine for collectors from Moto Guzzi who designed this version especially for the most demanding enthusiasts.

This refers to the character of the new Griso 8V SE that is the smartest and most high spirited Moto Guzzi ever made and that encompasses an absolute new sense of "Sporting spirit" stemming from the power and technology.  This quote from "I promessi sposi" by Alessandro Manzoni, refers to Griso, the head of a group known as the "Bravi" "to whom the most dangerous jobs were entrusted".

Motorcycle Insurance

Oct. 2 2009 I was out on my Harley Davidson motorcycle on my way to a job when some one turned left in front of me. I had two choices. Hit the pickup or lay down my beautiful bike. I chose to lay down the bike over hitting the truck. People that ride their bikes into other cars and trucks don't do so well. My bike sustained sever damage. The truck responsible had no damage. I was hurt and angry. I called the police, not the driver of the truck. The driver of the truck seamed to not care if I was alive or dead. They didn't come to see if I was OK or if I needed help. The only call to the 911 operator was mine. When the emergency people of Ogden Fire and Police arrived they did their typical good job. Ogden has some of the best emergency responders in the United States. I thank you. I had some serious injuries! The investigating Officer collected all the information to make a case against the driver of the pickup for failure to yield right of way, driving on suspended driver's license and no insurance. The no insurance part left me to deal with a $20,000 motorcycle that has $8,000 in damages, my injuries and not being able to work. I have insurance! What would have happened if I had been killed? Who would have taken care of my family? It is simply STUPID and against the law to drive around without insurance! John G. Moon Ogden
The comments to this article point out that regardless of the law people, for whatever reason, will persist in driving without insurance.  So what is a motorcycle rider to do?  Buy insurance yourself, that's what!  This is even more important in tough economic times because the estimate of uninsured drivers in Utah is about 12 percent.  In other words 12 out of every 100 drivers are out there driving without any vehicle insurance whatsoever!
When you purchase motorcycle insurance you can purchase what is called underinsured coverage and uninsured coverage.  Underinsured coverage kicks in if the driver who causes the crash has insurance but not enough to cover your damages.  For example let's assume the offending driver, like in the article above, turns left in front of you and causes the crash.  Let's also assume, not like in the article above, that the offender has the minimum coverage for bodily injury in Utah, $25,000.  Let's also assume that your total damages are $100,000.  You may get the offender's policy limits of $25,000 but what about the remaining $75,000 you lost?  If you had purchased adequate underinsured coverage of $100,000 that underinsured coverage would kick in because the offender was underinsured.
Uninsured coverage kicks in if the offending driver has no insurance coverage, like in the article above.  In that case, with clear and convincing evidence, you would make a claim on your own uninsured coverage.  If you had purchased $100,000 in uninsured coverage chances are your own insurance would pay for all of your damages.
So the answer is to make sure you carry enough insurance yourself to cover your damages should the other driver that causes the crash either does not carry enough coverage or no insurance coverage at all.  Furthermore, underinsured coverage is a right in Utah.  Often I discover that our clients have not made a knowing waiver of that right and under Utah law if that right to underinsured coverage is not made knowingly you are entitled to full underinsured coverage.  At utahbikelaw it is part of our routine investigation to make sure that you get what you are entitled to under the law in Utah when you are in a motorcycle crash.

2011 Confederate C3 X132 Hellcat Unveiled

This proven drag racing derived system is designed, specified, and built to maintain perfect crankshaft to output shaft alignment, irrespective of the suddenness or the volume of torque application, the company tells us. To deploy such massive low RPM torque, we fuse our patented powertrain system to the new motor. The unit is paired to a five-speed transmission made in-house by Confederate. The win cylinder Copperhead engine has been custom made by S&S Cycle and features a one-piece forged crank.

The new C3 X132 Hellcat naked machine is powered by a 52-degree V-twin engine displacing 2163cc, capable of developing 197Nm of torque (145lbs-ft), while the horsepower figures are listed as “sufficient". Within the new casing lives a big-boned, large diameter chassis/powertrain mounting system, informed by twenty years of Hellcat design, Confederate adds. The result is superior structural integrity, weighing in at only 40 pounds. “To do this, we developed a new unitized powertrain casing, which is precision carved from a 400 pound block of 6061 aircraft grade aluminum. This mandated absolute chassis and powertrain rigidity along with complete resistance to core fatigue, the company says.

With the new C3 Hellcat, we set out to build the toughest motorcycle ever made. The all-new naked bike from Confederate is dubbed C3 X132 Hellcat and will be built in limited numbers.  Initially scheduled for market launch in November 2010, the latest offering from American muscle bike builder Confederate Motorcycles has just been unveiled, and is to go on sale in mid-2011 for some US$45,000.

A spokesman for Confederate says This superior technology has been validated over 15 years and millions of miles under the most arduous of circumstances and conditions. Confederate also makes some interesting performance claims for the C3 X132 Hellcat. This proven drag race derived system is designed, specified and built to maintain perfect crankshaft to output shaft alignment, irrespective of the suddenness or magnitude of torque application. Making further durability claims, a Confederate spokesman says, This system will take a beating and never fail. According to Confederate, To this power we fused the best powertrain solution ever devised for massive low rpm torque deployment, the patented Confederate design system.

Short pushrods control the valves via roller rockers. At the top is a pair of 4.4-inch full-skirt pistons that slide up and down a 4.4-inch stroke for a perfectly square motor. It utilizes a 43-pound hard-steel, one-piece, forged crank that connects to forged hard-steel rod. Without a doubt, the 132 cubic inch Copperhead motor in the C3 X132 Hellcat is a monster. The Copperhead puts out in excess of 145 ft-lbs of torque, according to a Confederate spokesman, and the horsepower is understatedly described as "sufficient." Confederate tells Ultimate Motorcycling that "the unitized case construction is machined from a 400 pound block of 6061 aircraft grade aluminum carved into 37 pounds of core motorcycle structural permanence, and continues to claim, "there is no tougher way to craft the motorcycle.

Dubbed the 2012 Confederate C3 X132 Hellcat, the new Confederate is powered by a 132 cubic inch Copperhead engine that has been developed in alliance with S&S.  The third generation of the legendary Confederate Hellcat is now available for pre-order from the company's online store, Work & Cycle.

The bike will be available in ‘Fighter’ and ‘Roadster’ versi  Other bits on the 2011 Confederate C3 X132 Hellcat include Brembo brakes with carbon-ceramic rotors and four-piston monobloc callipers, 17-inch carbonfibre wheels, high-intensity discharge (HID) headlamp and LED taillamp. There’s a 50mm fork at the front and Racetech monoshock at the back, both ends being fully adjustable for low- and high-speed compression and rebound damping. The powertrain casing is carved from a single-piece, 180-kilo block of aircraft-grade aluminium, the transmission is a five-speed close ratio unit and final drive is via chain. You get a bike that’s fitted with a 2,200cc twin-cylinder S&S Cycle engine that produces 197Nm of torque and “sufficient” (yep, that’s what they claim) horsepower.

What, exactly, do you get for your $45,000? Only 150 units of this machine will be built and 22 of those have already been booked, so your time starts now. An upfront payment of US$2,250 will secure a C3 X132 for your garage and your bike will be delivered by no later than the end of December 2011.  For those with US$45,000 to blow on a high-tech, beautifully made, super-exclusive muscle-cruiser, you can now line up outside Confederate Motorcycles’ office and place an order for the new C3 X132 Hellcat.

Types of Motorcycle Insurance

Motorcycle Insurance is oftentimes confusing and daunting because there is a sense that the insurance company will find some way to avoid paying in the event you are in a motorcycle accident so you may as well buy the cheapest insurance.  Nothing could be farther from the truth and nothing could be farther from the truth about what type of insurance you should buy.

The first question you ask an insurance agent is how much coverage do you think I need.  From this question the agent should be able to ask you questions that will allow him to suggest to you a dollar amount of coverage that will protect you and your family from the devastating effects of a motorcycle crash.  You need to but protection from causing harm to others so they will not be forced to sue you personally and take away all you have worked for.  However, you also need to insure yourself against others not carrying enough insurance when they cause the damage - this is called uninsured and underinsured coverage discussed elsewhere in this blog.
